As dealers and installers for both Kohler and Generac, we can provide options across several generator sizes and help select a system suited to your home, your priorities and your available fuel source.

Automatic backup power, planned for your home.
A standby generator is permanently installed outside and connected to your electrical system and either natural gas or liquid propane. When utility power fails, an automatic transfer switch signals the generator and safely transfers selected circuits—or the whole home—to backup power.
- 01Utility power fails
The transfer switch detects the outage automatically, whether you are home or away.
- 02The generator starts
Your standby system starts and prepares to supply power from natural gas or propane.
- 03Power transfers
The transfer switch moves the planned electrical load from the utility to the generator.
- 04Utility power returns
The system transfers the home back to utility service and the generator shuts down.
Choosing the right size
What do you want running during an outage?
Generator capacity is measured in kilowatts (kW). The correct size depends on the electrical load you want to support, including the extra starting power required by equipment such as air conditioners and well pumps.
Residential options often begin around 10 kW and extend beyond 26 kW. A site visit and electrical-load assessment are the best way to identify an appropriate model and transfer-switch configuration.
Common questions
Before you request an estimate
Can a generator power my entire home?
It can, when the generator and transfer system are sized for the home’s actual electrical demand. Some homeowners instead choose to cover only essential or priority circuits.
Does a standby generator need gasoline?
Home standby systems typically connect to natural gas or liquid propane, so they do not require the same manual refueling and setup as a portable gasoline generator.
How do you determine the correct size?
We start with what you want to keep running, then evaluate the home’s electrical loads, starting demands, fuel source and transfer-switch needs before recommending options.
Do you offer more than one brand?
Yes. BEGC is a dealer and installer for both Kohler and Generac, giving North Mississippi homeowners multiple product and size options.
